homemade chocolates

Our chocolates are handmade in our atelier on Oudezijds Voorburgwal, right in the historic center of Amsterdam.

Each chocolate is made by Salomé Trip-Wagenhuis in small micro-batches.

After a busy season, we are taking a little time behind the scenes to prepare for the months ahead.

At Cacao & Spice, our handmade bonbons and chocolate bars are created in small batches, by hand, with a great deal of care and attention.

Rather than rushing into the new chocolate season, we want to take the time to develop new flavours, refine our recipes and create a collection that we are truly excited to share with you.

For that reason, our handmade chocolates will be taking a short seasonal break.

From October, we will slowly start introducing new handmade bonbons, chocolate bars and seasonal creations.

In the meantime, our shop remains full of beautiful single origin chocolates and carefully selected chocolate specialities from makers we love.

Thank you for your patience and support. We can't wait to welcome you into the new chocolate season and share our new creations with you.

With love,
The Cacao & Spice team

made with award winning couverture

For our chocolates, we use couverture from Heinde & Verre from Rotterdam.

Their chocolate is among the most awarded in the world (!) and is made from single-origin cocoa sourced from small farmers working in biodiverse ecosystems.

Good for taste and impact

The cacao used for our chocolate grows in biodiverse environments where nature conservation is central. By choosing this chocolate, you support not only exceptional taste, but also a supply chain in which farmers receive a more than fair price and biodiversity is protected.

Locally Made certified

We proudly bear the Locally Made label. This label is awarded to local makers who are assessed on sustainability, craftsmanship, and creativity.

No factory, no mass production. Every bonbon is handmade in our Amsterdam atelier.
